ABOUt KOTA tINGGI

The Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Malaysia is located in Tai Fung New Village, Kota Tinggi, Johor. It is adjacent to oil palm plantations, vegetable gardens, and sugar cane gardens. It has a simple kampong lifestyle. Walking into the temple, the majestic palace, the solemn white pagoda, the flying flags, and the ringing of wind chimes all make people feel as if they are in a snowy plateau, adding dazzling new highlights to the simple Taifeng New Village.
During Lunar New Year, Vesak Day, Guanyin Birthday, Yulan Festival and other festivals, good men and women from far and near flock to worship Buddhas and saints such as Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Thousand-Hands and Thousand-Eyes. Apart from sincere wishes, they also participate in pujas.
The main Buddha of the Mahayana Temple is the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with a thousand hands and thousand eyes in the shape of Tibetan Buddhism. The Buddha statue is three stories high and has the title “Nanyang Thousand-Hand Guanyin King Tathagata”. What is unexpected is that this statue of Guanyin turned out to be the largest Tibetan Avalokitesvara statue outside of Tibet, China.
It is hard to imagine that this majestic Guanyin statue will settle in Tai Fung New Village in Kota Tinggi, and this temple is only 5 years old. How did the Mahayana monastery develop into today’s stately treasures in just a few years? All this is inseparable from the monastery’s founding abbot, Xin and Mahayana Nandu Rinpoche
